Dear CRCD Users,
Our next quarterly cluster maintenance is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19th, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
During this downtime, we will perform a full operating system upgrade from RHEL 7 to RHEL 9, as previously mentioned in the "CRC Looking Forward to 2025" roadmap.
This will impact all of the login and compute nodes on the system, and requires significant changes to the software environment.
Key Actions for Users:
-
Prepare for Job Disruptions:
-
All queued jobs in Slurm will be purged during maintenance.
-
Running jobs will not persist through the upgrade—plan accordingly.
-
-
Review Compatibility & Test Critical Workflows in Advance:
-
The software stack is being rebuilt under RHEL 9. Some applications may require adjustments.
-
Consult our RHEL 9 Upgrade Guidelines for details on testing procedures for these updated modules. We strongly recommend validating workflows before the upgrade using the provisioned test environment.
-
This upgrade ensures long-term stability and security, but we recognize it may require effort on your part. We appreciate your cooperation and encourage you to submit a CRCD support ticket with any questions.
Sincerely,
The CRCD Team
