Data Storage

Home Directories

Every user is provided with a 75GB storage allocation for their home directory upon account creation.

This storage is backed up off-site, and the quota cannot be increased.

Persistent Research Data Storage

We maintain storage arrays with a combined usable capacity of 3 PB to support the storage needs of the research community.

These systems are TrueNAS M50-HA from iX Systems, designed to handle a variety of computational workloads. They are mounted as /ix, /ix1, and /ix3.

Our data storage pricing policy is as follows:

  • Free Tier: Up to 5 TB of storage is provided at no cost per Principal Investigator (PI).
    • This allocation is provisioned automatically upon a compute allocation's setup.
  • Additional Storage: Storage beyond the free 5 TB is available for purchase.
    • The cost is $65 per TB per year (subsidized rate).
    • Additional storage is allocated in increments of 5 TB.
    • Request additional storage

Legacy Storage Systems

The CRCD's BeeGFS (BGFS) and ZFS storage systems are fully allocated and no longer accepting new users. If you have an existing allocation on these systems, you may continue to use them.
