CRC Seeking Machine Learning Scientist

The Machine Learning Scientist will be Pitt Center for Research Computing’s (CRC) expert on Machine Learning and Big Data (ML/BD).

The ML Scientist’s primary responsibility is to engage and advise faculty and student researchers on how to increase their research productivity by applying ML/BD techniques on CRC resources to their research problems. Responsibilities will also include configuration, compilation, and installation of BD/ML applications and libraries from source and code optimization. As the subject matter expert, the ML Scientist will be responsible for developing and delivering workshops throughout the year.

Additional responsibilities include keeping up to date on ML/BD techniques, contributing to the general operation of the CRC, and counseling on future direction and initiatives.

Education Required Master's
Minimum Related Experience Level Required At least 3 years of experience (overall). Experience in a ML environment as Research Assistant/Associate or Post-Doctoral experience can be applied to experience requirements. PhD candidates will be considered with 1 years of experience.
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position


Must have at least one year experience working in Machine Learning.
Expertise in statistical methods that relate to Machine Learning and Big Data.
Formal training in machine learning and Big Data analysis is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, since you will interact with faculty and students who may not be primarily computational
